The DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is housed in the heritage-listed 1928 T&G Building, a landmark example of Art Deco architecture in New Zealand. Following a comprehensive renovation, the hotel offers modern hospitality amenities across guest rooms, suites, and public spaces while celebrating the building’s historic character. Custom Carpets was engaged to deliver a bespoke carpet solution that balances heritage sensitivity, durability, and design sophistication for both high-traffic areas and intimate guest spaces.
design intent
The design concept aimed to retain the building’s classic Art Deco features, such as decorative plasterwork and period detailing, while introducing contemporary hospitality comfort. Flooring needed to respect the historic architecture and complement a neutral and elegant interior palette. The custom carpet adds texture, warmth, and acoustical performance, contributing to an inviting and comfortable experience for guests.-
